6.8.4 Folder Redirection
When you redirect folders, you change the storage location of folders from the local hard disk on the user’s
computer to a shared folder on a network file server. Once you have redirect a folder to a file server, a user
will be able to access the folder regardless of the computers to which they log on. This also ensures that the
data in the folders is stored centrally so that the files that are contained in the folders can easily be manage
and back up. You can use the Folder Redirection extension in Group Policy to store the My Documents,
Application Data, Desktop, and Start Menu folders on a server.
